Fabric Compensator

Tailor-made fabric compensators

LBH Nordic Compensators AS offers a series of standard types of expansion bellows together with a number of special designs. Tailored fabric expansion bellows are available in all sizes and shapes for all applications – from single bellows for ventilation systems to highly advanced multi-layer expansion bellows for gas turbine exhaust (see below). The common factor is always the craftsmanship, the use of superior materials and knowing their strengths and limitations.

LBH Nordic Compensators AS' production series of expansion bellows consists of 26 standard types divided into five categories. These cover a wide range of conditions, which can also be modified to suit particular needs. The temperature capacity varies from -50⁰C to 1000⁰C and the pressure varies from -50kPa to 50kPa.

  • Type LN: For clean air systems
  • Type MN: For flue gas with low acid content / limited mechanical conditions
  • Type RN: For flue gas with a high acid content / strict mechanical conditions
  • Type HD: For applications that require optimum resistance to chemical attack/mechanical conditions
  • Type GTX: For gas turbine applications (see more below)

Expansion joint for gas turbine exhaust

The innovative design solutions introduced with the GTX range have been achieved through years of in-house and on-site testing, with intensive use of FEA analysis. Gas turbine exhaust expansion joints are available in a variety of frame designs and fabric materials. Below are the three standard GTX fabric designs:

  • GTX-A: This material is used in applications that have no pressure pulses and have fairly steady flow rates. The design is typically used on units installed downstream of the turbine, after the diffuser sections where the gas flow characteristics have leveled off.
  • GTX-B: This is the most commonly used fabric design that can withstand normal pressure pulses and flow conditions. A unit composed of fabric can be mounted e.g. at the bypass outlet sections or after the diffuser sections.
  • GTX-C: The GTX-C design is recommended for heavy duty gas turbine exhaust applications where high pressure pulsations with turbulent flow conditions exist.

For an optimal GT solution, our proven frame designs ensure a long life.

All standard GTX designs can be modified to suit any customer requirement through proper craftsmanship.
